Review of my time in Ventanilla

It didn’t take long and living and working with the people in Ventanilla became part of my daily life. It was normal that children in the slum welcomed me and waved to me or that I played football with them between the unfinished houses. That we studied together for school until late in the evening or did puzzles together.

All the more ironic were all the tourists at the airport who saw Machu Picchu but never went into a house of an average Peruvian family. I realized how much more valuable such an experience, such a commitment is for me!

It didn’t take long and living and working with the people in Ventanilla became a daily routine for me.

Even though I am happy to live here in Switzerland in some comparisons, for example of the school system or the government (unfortunately I heard some corrupt stories), I have to say that I learned a lot from the Peruvian attitude and took it with me. I hope that I will be able to take this confident and relaxed way of living and the motivation of constantly looking for solutions home with me and integrate it into my everyday life in Switzerland.

I know that life goes on in Peru and I am always happy to hear from you. It is different to read a newsletter, now that I have a connection to every place and every person involved.

I hope that I will be able to take this confident and relaxed way of living and the motivation of constantly looking for solutions home with me and integrate it into my everyday life in Switzerland.

I wish you all the best for the future!
